Google Rolls Out AI-Powered Business Calling, Upgrades AI Mode with Gemini 2.5 Pro

| AI News

šŸ“ž AI Now Makes Calls for You

Google is bringing a futuristic twist to your local business search experience. With the launch of its new AI-powered business-calling feature, users can now ask Google to call businesses on their behalf. Whether you’re looking for a pet groomer, a restaurant reservation, or the nearest mechanic, the AI will dial up the business, collect information on availability, pricing, and services—and deliver the results back to you, no manual calling required.

A Google spokesperson clarified that the AI always announces itself at the beginning of every call, stating that it is ā€œan automated system calling from Google on behalf of a user.ā€ This transparency ensures businesses know they’re talking to an AI, not a person.

🧠 Gemini 2.5 Pro Now in AI Mode

In addition to the calling feature, Google is upgrading its AI Mode with the integration of Gemini 2.5 Pro, a powerful model designed for advanced reasoning, mathematics, and coding tasks. Users subscribed to Google AI Pro or Ultra tiers can now select Gemini 2.5 Pro from a drop-down menu within AI Mode for more robust and intelligent interactions.

This enhancement is part of Google’s broader strategy to embed more capable AI assistants directly into everyday tools, streamlining workflows for students, developers, and everyday users alike.

šŸ“ Who Gets Access and When?

The business-calling feature is rolling out to all Search users in the United States, with higher usage limits for AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. While the AI Mode with Gemini 2.5 Pro is also being enhanced across subscription tiers, these features promise to elevate user experience by reducing the friction between question and answer, task and completion.

🧪 A Glimpse into the Future of Search

First tested under Google’s Search Labs in January, these tools now mark a broader shift in how search engines operate—not just as a window to the web, but as proactive assistants capable of performing complex tasks.

With these upgrades, Google is positioning itself at the forefront of AI-enhanced productivity, turning search into action—one call, one code, one question at a time.
