Luma AI CEO Warns Hollywood Is “Already Dead,” Says Only AI Can Revive It

| AI News

Amit Jain, CEO of Luma AI, has delivered a stark warning about the future of Hollywood, claiming the industry is “already dead.” In recent interviews, Jain criticized Hollywood’s increasing dependence on safe, franchise-driven blockbusters and its unwillingness to take creative risks.

According to Jain, the solution lies in generative AI. He highlighted Ray 3, Luma’s latest video model, as a potential game-changer. Ray 3 is the first generative video system with reasoning capabilities, allowing filmmakers to provide visual annotations and instantly generate specific movements or scenes. This, he said, can drastically cut production costs and speed up experimentation, enabling creators to explore fresh ideas that studios might otherwise reject.

Jain believes that by embracing AI tools like Ray 3, Hollywood can re-ignite its tradition of innovation and storytelling. “AI gives filmmakers the freedom to create the unimaginable,” he noted, arguing that technology—not traditional studio methods—will drive the next era of cinema.
